Physical paint laid on with gestural brushstrokes express the experience of painting en plein air - the blinding light, the swirling of wind, and the unexpected configurations of shapes. Translucency and contrast force an ethereal tension created between the impasto and the illusion. Preparatory drawings are included to show the underlying configuration for specific paintings.
